Adriana Campos Death: Colombian Soap Star’s Husband May Have Fallen Asleep At The Wheel
Adriana Campos was killed in an accident in her native Colombia, and now reports suggest that the soap opera star’s husband may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The 36-year-old Campos died in Tuesday’s accident along with her husband, businessman Carlos Rincón. Reports claim that Carlos was driving at the time of the crash and lost control with the car plunging into the Cauca River.
While officials are still investigating the death of Adriana Campos, a report from El Tiempo suggests that Carlos Ríncon may have fallen asleep while driving.
A report from the Latin Times also points to other ideas, including a mechanical failure in the car.
“New reports speculate the cause of death of the two-time TV y Novelas nominee and the businessman, who left behind their 1-year-old son. The first theory, according to, is that the gentleman dozed off behind the wheel, causing the car to loose control and fall in the river. ‘When he woke up, it was too late to control the car,’ said major Andrés Gómez, of Seccional de Tránsito y Transporte de Antioquia to the publication. Gómez also believes that second theory might have been a possible mechanical complication. Although it’s believed that the couple drowned, other publications report that they died from their severe fractures.”
Others have suggested that foul play could have been involved, noting that Colombia has a reputation as being a corrupt nation. But there does appear to be any evidence supporting this speculation, which is limited to postings on Twitter and comment sections of articles on her death.
Police have released some details of the crashing, including noting that both Adriana Campos and Carlos Rincon were killed at the scene.
“Immediately following the accident, traffic units were sent to the crash site in coordination with the city’s firefighters,” said Juan Gómez, a highway patrol commander for the City of Antioquia, during a press conference. “We proceeded to remove the bodies and transport them to Salgar Hospital’s morgue to perform all formalities.”
There has been an outpouring of support from fans and fellow actors after Campos’ death. She had a 15-year career in television and movies, including two nominations for the Mexican television awards Premios TVyNovelas.

But she overcame the horrible event and went on to marry businessman Carlos in 2014, and the couple welcomed son Geronimo Rincon Campos in 2014. Adriana was taking a year-long sabbatical from acting to focus on raising her son when the accident happened.”
