Harry Styles Bullet Coffee Diet: Is The ‘Magic’ Diet Safe?

What’s Harry Styles’ secret to staying slim and sexy? The One Direction singer relies on a “magic” drink that will prevent him from “getting hungry.”

According to a report in The Mirror, Harry Styles credits the “bullet coffee” to keep him looking svelte. The “Perfect” singer says he drinks the coffee in replace of meals, which is mixed with butter and coconut oil. Styles, 21, uses the extreme diet to fit into his skinny jeans.

During his interview with The Sunday Times Style magazine, Harry says that he tries his hardest to avoid those sneaky hunger cravings during his busy touring schedule.

“Bullet coffee. It’s black coffee with a spoonful of butter in it and a spoonful of coconut oil, all mixed up together. I’ve been on it for two days. You don’t get hungry.”

Styles has been performing with his One Direction bandmates during their On the Road Again world Tour. They last performed in Sheffield, according to the report. Styles also revealed that he stays fit by doing daily meditation and Pilates, and also enjoys running and boxing.

There’s no doubt that his fans will try it, so is Harry Styles’ “bullet coffee” diet safe to try? Health and fitness expert Max Bridger from LDN Muscle says that the drink could cause weight gain down the line.

“Coffee and coconut oil is a good, natural pick me up when compared to energy drinks and powders that contain a catalogue of unpronounceable ingredients. Adding butter to the mix will up the calories of the cup quite remarkably, but its ability to keep hunger pangs’ at bay is arguable.”

The fitness guru added that Harry’s “magic” drink will only cause his metabolism to increase, since it results in consuming more calories than he will burn.

“A few cups of this drink will also quickly up your fat intake for the day, and given a gram of fat is more than double the calories of a gram of protein or carbs, this could push you in to a caloric surplus and cause fat gain to occur.”

“Excess calories from fat are actually more easily stored as fat vs. protein and carbohydrates. Further to this, increasing your caffeine intake above normal can cause a diuretic effect, making you urinate more, and eat more as a result or feel hungrier due to the fact being poorly hydrated can be mistaken for hunger.”

Max recommends that Harry’s fans probably shouldn’t follow in the musician’s footsteps. Those looking to lose weight or live a healthier lifestyle, should eat meals rich in protein every four to five hours, and stay hydrated with water instead of caffeine. It’s also important to eat low-calorie snacks such as cooked chicken, hummus, high fiber fruit, popcorn, and 0% yogurt. Max adds that these healthy snacks would be healthier and wiser to eat than drink a cup of bullet coffee.

This isn’t the only bizarre diet that Harry Styles has tried. Back in December 2014, it was revealed that he cuts out alcohol and desserts around the holidays. Styles would supplement his healthier lifestyle with sweaty Betty workouts. It’s also been rumored that Styles likes to take an ice water bath after his workouts as an effort to recover and soothe his sore muscles.

Back in March 2014, it was rumored that Harry’s bandmates made fun of his healthy diet, which consisted of green tea and sushi, which sounds a lot healthier than his bullet coffee. An inside source said that the boy band would place bets on how long Harry would last on his diet. It sounds like Harry likes to jump from diet to diet, just like he likes to jump around when it comes to his work outs.
