Man Accused Of Stabbing Friend Who Ate Last Piece Of Chicken
A Texas man is accused of stabbing his friend while fighting over the last piece of a chicken dinner over the weekend. New York Daily News reports that 38-year-old Reinaldo Cardoso Rivera turned himself in to police after fatally stabbing 34-year-old Darwin Peter Gonzalez. The details surrounding this case are perplexing, because the motive appears to be over something completely harmless and otherwise unworthy of sparking a violent reaction.
The incident took place on Friday night at around 11:30 p.m., while Rivera and a group of four friends were having drinks and cooking dinner in a Houston apartment. ABC News 7 reports that things between the friends went sour when Gonzalez allegedly ate the last piece of chicken, which Cardoso had apparently planned to save for himself. A fight broke out between the two over the fowl behavior, and they took to the apartment complex parking lot to throw punches at one another.

Unfortunately, what started as a fistfight between the two friends turned into a fatally violent stabbing incident that ended in one dead and another behind bars. Reports indicate that once the two began fighting in the parking lot, Reinaldo Cardoso Rivera pulled a knife out on Darwin Perez Gonzalez. Reports aren’t saying how many times the man was stabbed, but Cardoso allegedly fled from the scene of the stabbing with the knife on his person.

@ABC7 I don’t know about chicken but if it was the last piece of pizza for sure I’m stabbing someone. — David Jimenez (@dvdjimenez) November 2, 2015

Authorities confirm that Reinaldo Cardoso eventually turned himself in to authorities after returning to the scene of the stabbing. He also allegedly admitted to stabbing his friend over the last piece of their chicken dinner. He has since been charged with the murder of Darwin Perez Gonzalez. News of the incident is now garnering a ton of attention on social media with people adding their comments about the ridiculousness of the man’s motive for stabbing his friend.
This also isn’t the first time someone has gotten violent over food being eaten. Earlier this year, a Florida woman was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her own mother — and all over a plate of chicken and biscuits. Kristin Michelle Howard allegedly punched her mother in the face and threw tea on her after the woman reportedly argued with her over getting drunk and eating her food — which happened to be a plate of fried chicken and biscuits.
@AnnCoulter Must have been some darned good chicken! Do you have the recipe?

Also this year, another incident (in Florida, again, of all places) broke out in a Publix grocery store over an order of chicken wings. The violent brawl was caught on video, which went viral in media reports and social media. It started when a man was reportedly rude to workers, and used racial slurs while fighting over an order of chicken wings. One thing led to another and it turned into a multiple-person brawl. The video on Youtube made more than 230,000 views.
In another similar story, a man named Kareem Gordon allegedly attacked his pregnant sister in 2013 during a fight over chicken nuggets. The Florida man allegedly “pounced” on the four-months-pregnant woman after he spotted her eating the popular fast food.
