Yvonne Strahovski Joins ‘Dexter’ Cast For Season 7
Yvonne Strahovski, the former Chuck star has been snatched up for a multi episode arc on Showtime’s long-running Dexter series.
This will be the actress’s first gig since Chuck ended in January, according to Entertainment Weekly, where she will play Hanna McKay, a strong and independent woman who helps Miami Metro Homicide solve some old cases.
The Hollywood Reporter notes to watch out for Strahovski’s character though, as she struggles to put her past behind her. EW also notes that the casting scoop warns that there’s more to her character, Hanna, than meets the eye, and that Dexter (played by Michael C. Hall) will be the first to suspect it.
Katia Winter is also set to play a Russian stripper who is working at a Miami club, joining other season 7 newbies Jason Gedrick (who plays the strip club manager) and Ray Stevenson (the leader of a Russian organized crime syndicate. Yvonne Strahovski joins previous A-list guest stars, such as Jimmy Smits, Julia Stiles, and John Lithgow (who received an Emmy for his role in the serial-killer drama).
Production for season 7 of Dexter began last week, and the first episode is set to premiere on September 30. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Showtime has renewed the popular series for two additional seasons, which they believe “will likely bring the serial-killer drama to its end.”
Strahovski is not the only Chuck actor to work on another filming project, with IMDB credits showing Zachary Levi in the upcoming Thor 2 movie.
