‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Will Matt Ashford Return As Jack Deveraux?

Days of Our Lives spoilers and rumors are running wild about the possibility of Matthew Ashford returning to Salem as his former character, Jack Deveraux. Jack was killed saving his daughter, Abigail, back in 2012, and if he were going to rise from the dead (again), then now would be a perfect time.

Days of Our Lives is getting ready to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and many familiar faces are returning to Salem. Characters such as Steve “Patch” Johnson, Bo Brady, Shawn Brady, Sami Brady, Philip Kiriakis, Belle Black, Andre DiMera, and more are back in action, and fans are hoping that Jack’s name could possibly be added to that list.

Realty Today reports that Matthew Ashford has expressed interest in returning to DOOL during a recent interview, and fans couldn’t be more excited about the possibility that Jennifer Horton may be getting her husband back.

“You have to keep knocking on the door every now and then and say, ‘What’s up?’ It gives them time.”

If Jack Deveraux were to return to Salem, it would make for a very interesting story line. Jennifer is dealing with her kids’ drama right now all by herself. Having Jack back would help her be able to help her children better, as JJ has been working for the police and putting himself in serious danger. In fact, he has expressed interest in quitting college and becoming a police officer himself.

Meanwhile, Abigail Deveraux is in extreme danger, although she doesn’t know it yet. Abigail, who is pregnant with what she believes to be Ben Weston’s baby, is engaged to the Salem necktie killer. Abby has no idea that it was actually Ben who was killed Serena Mason, Paige Larson, and Will Horton, and framed Chad DiMera for it all. To make matters worse, Abigail is still totally in love with Chad, and Ben knows all about it.

Last summer, Days of Our Lives fans started a Twitter campaign to bring Ashford back to the soap using the hashtag #BringBackJack. At the time, Matthew reportedly revealed he was “open” to return to the show, but hadn’t been asked about it.

Matthew Ashford joined Days of Our Lives as Jack Deveraux back in 1987 with his on-air wife, Melissa Reeves, who plays Jennifer Horton. Together, the pair became one of the show’s power couples. Ashford left the show in 1993, and returned nearly a decade later in 2001, but only for a short stint. In 2003, he left again, but quickly returned the next year, staying until 2006. The last time Jack was seen in Salem was in 2012, when he fell down an elevator shaft saving Abigail after a huge explosion.

While DOOL has been busy killing off characters, it could be nice to see one beloved character return from the dead — especially since more characters are due to exit. James Reed recently starred in his last episode as Clyde Weston and the characters of Ben Weston, Aiden Jennings, and Dr. Daniel Jonas are also rumored to be gone in the very near future.

In addition to the deaths and departures of current characters, the guest stars returning for the 50th anniversary such as Jason Cook, who plays Shawn Douglas Brady, and Peter Reckell’s Bo Brady will soon be gone. It would be the perfect time for some fresh blood in Salem, and some old favorites to jump back into the spotlight for some new storylines.
