Lamar Odom Update: Former NBA Star To Receive Kidney Donation From Rob Kardashian

Since Lamar Odom’s hospitalization a couple of weeks ago, updates on his health have been going out to the media coming from insiders and sources.

A new update on Lamar Odom’s health is saying that his kidneys and lungs are reportedly not functioning properly.

As a result, the former NBA star is undergoing regular kidney dialysis to compensate for the damaged kidneys.

“It’s two steps forward, then a step back, but it does feel like some progress is being made, little by little,” according to the insider, referring to Odom’s overall improved condition compared to last week.

However, he was struck with pneumonia, which could “permanently” scar his lungs.

In the report, while Odom is making some progress and a kidney transplant would definitely be on its way, the 35-year-old former athlete is not strong enough for the procedure. As a result, he would have to continue the dialysis to condition his body for surgery.

Odom is currently confined in Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. In the meantime, one of Odom’s closest friends, Rob Kardashian, has reportedly expressed his desire to help out his brother-in-law. That help, according to insiders, is donating his kidney.

“Rob is willing to do whatever it takes to help Lamar recover. If that means donating a kidney then so be it, Rob has a big heart and he’s willing to step up to help his friend,” said another source close to the 28-year-old Kardashian.

As the only male Kardashian, Rob reportedly has a close relationship with Odom, especially when things were still going smoothly with him and Khloe, 31.

However, when news broke that the two would split in December 2013, Rob was said to be devastated, and since then had been “battling depression and a number of personal issues.”

Meanwhile, Khloe is still showing her full support for her estranged husband, and ever since Odom was hospitalized on October 13, she has been by his side until Sunday when she attended sister Kim Kardashian-West’s baby shower.

In a rather surprising turn, the TV reality star called off their divorce on Wednesday, in spite both of them having signed the final papers already.

While she has seemingly put her relationship with Rockets guard James Harden on hold temporarily, it was reported last week that Khloe decided to break up with him through text.

“I will never, ever not love Lamar,” the Kardashian told E! while watching over her husband. “I was so obsessed with him in a healthy way. He was my husband, and I still wish he was, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star will be by Odom’s side on his long road to recovery, sources said. However, reports said that Kardashian might only be willing to stand by Odom on the condition that he stops taking drugs altogether.

Aside from Khloe and her brother Rob, other people have also expressed their desire to help Odom by donating their kidneys.

The former Los Angeles Lakers forward received tweets from fans, saying that they are willing to share with him their spare kidneys to help him recover.

While there are fans who are willing to share their organs with Odom for free, there are also some who went with a “capitalistic approach.”

Lamar Odom was found unconscious in a brothel in Nevada on October 13, which was reportedly caused by drug abuse. An update on the story also revealed that he had been there for four days with a number of courtesans, two of which he personally handpicked.

The brothel’s owner has continued to deny that Odom had been taking drugs while he was in the brothel, and that the two female workers might have been responsible for it.
