Chris Rock Tweets Offensive Lamar Odom Joke — Is It Too Soon To Laugh About It?
Chris Rock tweeted a joke about Lamar Odom that a lot of people are saying is offensive.

Rock tweeted a meme featuring a couple fighting in a kitchen and the caption read: “Here’s to Lamar Odom on being the first guy in history to have coke and hookers save his marriage.”
The tweet rubbed a lot of people the wrong way on social media, with lots of people saying that it was too early to make jokes about Lamar Odom’s health condition. Odom was found unconscious at a legal Las Vegas brothel and was rushed to hospital.
Police later revealed that Lamar Odom had taken herbal Viagra and a cocktail of other drugs. His estranged wife and reality TV star Khloe Kardashian rushed to his side along with her sister Kim Kardashian and mother Kris Jenner.
He is currently hospitalized at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, Us Weekly reports.
On October 21, the Kardashian’s lawyer asked an L.A. judge to withdraw the couple’s divorce filing. The divorce papers had been signed by both Khloe and Lamar but the court had not fully processed them, so technically they’ve been married all this time.
However, this recent development means that the divorce is officially off for now.
“This is a very delicate and difficult time for both Lamar and Khloe,” a reported insider told Us Weekly on Wednesday. “And the most sensible thing to do at such a time is not make any big moves and put everything on hold. So that’s what [Khloe] is doing.”
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom got married in September, 2009, after a month-long courtship. Their wedding was taped for a Keeping Up With the Kardashians episode. The two even got a spin off series, Khloe and Lamar, which ran on E! from 2011 to 2012. Khloe filed for divorce in 2013.
The social media response to Chris Rock’s Lamar Odom tweet has been pretty mixed so far.
To joke about Lamar Odom instead of praying for or supporting him is indespicable. @chrisrock #justiceforlamarodom #prayersforlamar

Chris Rock’s edgy joke about Lamar Odom and his marriage to Khloe Kardashian may be a sign of what audiences can expect when Rock hosts the Academy Awards next year. It will be his second time hosting the Oscars.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Chris Rock shared the news about his new hosting gig by tweeting: “Look who’s back #Oscars” along with a picture of himself holding one of the golden statues.
Chris Rock first hosted in 2005, a stint that was filled with jokes about race and politics. He notoriously opened the show by saying: “Welcome to the 77th, and last, Academy Awards.” He went on to riff about the high number of black nominees at the Oscars that night calling it, the “Def Oscar Jam.” Jamie Foxx, Morgan Freeman, Don Cheadle, and Sophie Okonedo were all nominated for acting awards that night.
But Sean Penn was not here for some of Chris Rock’s jokes, Entertainment Weekly reports. During one of his sets, Chris made a joke about Jude Law being in almost every movie.
“Forgive my lack of humor,” Penn said before he presented the Oscar for Best Actress. “Jude Law is one of our most talented actors.”
The 2016 Academy Awards hosted by Chris Rock will be held in February.
