Lark Voorhies Divorce: Actress Splits From Jimmy Green After Tumultuous 6-Month Marriage

Lark Voorhies’ marriage to Jimmy Green apparently is ending just six months after a surprise elopement in Las Vegas. Fans have been worried about the Saved by the Bell star for some time now, and that concern escalated after she revealed she had gotten married. Lark’s mother made no secret of her worry about this marriage, and now it seems that Lark is bailing on the union.

According to TMZ, Lark Voorhies has filed for divorce from Jimmy Green. The two surprised everybody by getting married last April in Las Vegas after having met on Facebook about a year prior. It seems that Voorhies is asking the courts to deny any request for spousal support from Green, who says he is now a music engineer.

From the sounds of things, Green is not pining away for his estranged wife or looking to repair his marriage. He told TMZ that the marriage had been a mess from the beginning, and he would have filed for divorce before Lark except that he did not know how to do it himself.

As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, Lark and Jimmy stood by their decision to wed in earlier months, despite her mother’s concerns. The marriage was seemingly an unconventional one, with Lark living with her mother and Jimmy initially agreeing to be out of the house every night. However, Lark’s mother, Patricia, repeatedly found Jimmy hiding in the house, and the two had some intense arguments.

Patricia filed a restraining order against Green over the summer, but those issues were not enough to propel Lark to divorce Jimmy. Green has made no secret of his distaste for Lark’s mother, and clearly the feelings were mutual.

Despite the family drama, Lark and Jimmy insisted that they were “selectively together for all the right reasons.” The two chatted with Entertainment Tonight back in July, and the interview was a decidedly odd one. Patricia has indicated that Lark is bipolar and needs careful medical care, but the former Saved by the Bell star has denied that to be the case.

Voorhies shared that she had experienced “textbook clinical depression” after her first marriage to Miguel Coleman, but she has denied continuing problems. Fans and clearly those close to her, however, have felt sure there was more happening than she wanted to admit in terms of her mental health.

Jimmy Green has had his fair share of issues in the past, being an admitted former gang member and a man who has had issues with the law. Lark’s mother worried that Jimmy was taking advantage of the former actress, but until now, the newlyweds insisted they were simply a couple in love.

Though neither Green nor Voorhies are saying anything publicly about the split at the moment, not long ago Jimmy ranted via social media about Lark, her mother, and how he hadn’t wanted to get married in the first place.

As Wetpaint detailed, there had been rumors of a pregnancy, and Jimmy detailed how the two had been planning on doing a reality TV show. After Lark’s mother allegedly pulled financial support, things supposedly got complicated.

It seems few Saved by the Bell fans will be surprised to hear of Lark Voorhies’ divorce from Jimmy Green, or the details that have emerged about things having not gone all that smoothly over the past few months for the couple or with Lark’s mother. Many hope that this will be the beginning of a new phase for the former actress, where perhaps she can find some stability and peace while putting this complicated relationship behind her.
