Happy Anniversary: George Clooney Bought Amal A Sushi Restaurant in London
To celebrate the first anniversary of their marriage, Hollywood hunk George Clooney really splurged and bought his wife, Amal, a sushi restaurant in London.
The Inquisitr reported recently on the one year anniversary of the joining of George Clooney, 54, to his lovely wife, Amal, in September this year. Since then, a bit of news has appeared in the media about the amazing and unusual gift Clooney bestowed on Amal to celebrate their first year – a brand new, built-just-for-her sushi restaurant in the city of London.

The famous couple enjoy nothing better than relaxing over a good meal, and Amal reportedly particularly enjoys the Asanebo Japanese gourmet restaurant close to their Los Angeles home. However, according to a source close to the Clooneys, Amal constantly complains that there is nothing quite as good in London.
As reported by the Belfast Telegraph, since then, George has been having lengthy discussions with the head chef and owner of that restaurant, Tetsuya Nakao, about opening a branch in the UK capital. That way, Amal can always enjoy her favorite sushi dishes when away.
“She always complains there’s nowhere as good in London, so since last year George has been in talks with the head chef and owner Tetsuya Nakao about opening a London branch. He wants to make sure Amal can always have access to their favorite dishes when she’s at home in London.”
The Independent reports the deal is firming up and reportedly besides paying £300,000 ($464,109) for rent and equipment, George Clooney is also set to promote the London sushi restaurant.

Reportedly, Tetsuya is a good friend of the Clooneys, and he knows this will be a good deal for him and that it will be a success in terms of business, as well as giving Amal access to all her favorite sushi treats when on the ground in London.
On that note, George will also be playing a vital role in finalizing the menu, as he wants to ensure Amal will have every dish she could wish for and more when she visits the new London sushi restaurant.
According to the source, Amal’s favorite dishes include “halibut sashimi with truffles, Brussels sprouts salad with seared scallop, hamachi with seaweed and cod lettuce wrap.”

Reportedly, George Clooney has also insisted that the new restaurant always has the very best fresh fish on hand to serve.
It seems George gave Amal this perfect gift while they celebrated their first anniversary at a Los Angeles restaurant. Reportedly, Clooney said to Amal that his gift was in the normal marriage tradition, as he handed her a paper present, which of course included his grand plans for the sushi restaurant in London. While the gift was certainly unorthodox, reportedly Amal thought it was perfect and loves the idea.
When asked about his plans for their first wedding anniversary at the 15th anniversary screening of his film O Brother, Where Art Thou? in New York on September 15, Clooney told the media, “We sure are having fun.”
Without mentioning the unusual gift of the sushi restaurant, Clooney went on to say “We had a beautiful anniversary and we’re having fun.”
Of course, the food and drink industry is nothing new to George Clooney, who is in partnership with Cindy Crawford’s husband, Rande Gerber, and Mike Meldman in Casamigos, a tequila company. The Inquisitr recently reported on the opening of the latest branch of Casamigos on the Spanish island of Ibiza, where celebrations and parties were the order of the day.
In other Clooney news on the Inquisitr, George recently confirmed that he will not be getting involved in politics or the race for the U.S. presidency. While his wife, Amal, is involved in humanitarian efforts, some thought it would be a natural progression for Clooney to get into the political sphere, but when questioned on the subject, he gave an emphatic “no.”
“I’ve been asked that for almost 20 years now and the answer is just, no. Who would ever want to live like that?”
It sounds like George and Amal are having way much too much fun together for him to think about such serious matters as politics.
In more recent news relating to Clooney, a Care2 petition has been launched encouraging the Hollywood actor to get more involved in fighting for equal pay for female stars in Hollywood.
