Creflo Dollar Arrested: Megachurch Pastor Faces Simple Battery Charges
Creflo Dollar spends his Sundays at the World Changers Church International in College Park, Georgia preaching the word of God. But the Megachurch Pastor may miss this Sunday’s mass as he was arrested after a physical altercation with his 15-year-old daughter.
The Associated Press reports that Creflo Dollar was arrested at his house at 1 a.m. Friday morning. Dollar and his daughter were apparently arguing about a party that the girl wanted to attend. The argument got physical, and according to the police report, Dollar started to choke the girl.
CNN reports that the pastor slammed the girl to the ground, punched her, and beat her with his shoe. The girl was eventually able to break free and call 911.
Dollar was arrested and faces misdemeanor charges of simple battery and cruelty to children. Police say that the girl suffered “superficial” injuries.
A judge set Dollar’s bail at $5000 at a hearing this morning.
11Alive reports that Dollar admitted that he spanked the child and wrestled her to the floor. The pastor said that his daughter was being “very disrespectful” and that her account of the incident was exaggerated.
The popular preacher has already found some supporters on Twitter.
