Alek Skarlatos, Emma Slater Dating Potential: Will ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Duo Pursue A Real Romance?

Fans of Dancing with the Stars are “shipping” a new pairing this season, especially after a hot performance on Monday night’s show. Alek Skarlatos may be paired with Lindsay Arnold for Season 21, but he was with Emma Slater for the switch-up week, and there is no doubt that Alek and Emma are a sizzling duo. Could this pair turn into something romantic together off the dance floor as many are hoping?

Alek Skarlatos and Emma Slater didn’t really even try to hide their crushes on one another during their switch-up partner week. There have been some references earlier in the season to these two having an attraction for one another, and it was certainly in full force during Monday night’s show. Co-host Erin Andrews pushed for the two to consider the next step — a date — and there is some talk of that happening. However, will these two really give it a shot?

Glamour shares some scoop from backstage Monday night, and Dancing with the Stars fans will surely like what they hear. It seems that the idea of Alek and Emma going on a date was brought up, and they seem ready to embrace the idea. While Emma joked about how they would go somewhere expensive if the magazine was footing the bill, Alek apparently quietly said that he indeed would like to go out with Emma and just see what happens.

During rehearsals on Monday, Emma’s elbow met with Alek’s nose and actually broke it. Luckily, he is doing fine now, though he did joke that he really should get a date out of the incident. Even Alek’s regular partner, Lindsay, sees the chemistry between Skarlatos and Slater, joking that he had a tough time in rehearsals because he was mesmerized by Emma.

E! Online shared a chat with Emma and Alek from after the show, and those Dancing with the Stars fans who adore these two will not want to miss it. Slater asked Skarlatos for a bad date story, and his response revolved around a missed kiss opportunity that Emma realized just might have been about her. Even if it wasn’t about her, there is no doubt that these two have been thinking about the possibility of taking things a step further than simply a steamy performance on the dance floor.

Even those Dancing with the Stars fans who are skeptical of showmances on this franchise are happily embracing the possibility of this one. Some pairs in past seasons would often let fans buzz about the possibility of romance without doing much to correct them, as it can help a couple stick around longer. However, in this case, the chemistry and interest between Alek and Emma seems to be genuine and sincere.

Though there are a fair number of “showmances” from Dancing with the Stars in recent seasons that never developed into anything real or lasting, such as between Val Chmerkovskiy and Kelly Monaco, Val and Janel Parrish, or Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis, there is something of a success story with Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec. Robert and Kym were paired up in Season 20, and their sweet relationship that developed on the dance floor continued in their real lives.

Both Emma and Alek are single and clearly are crushing on one another. Emma did previously date fellow Dancing with the Stars pro Sasha Farber, though they split a while back. Could these initial sparks between Skarlatos and Slater transition into a real relationship for Emma and Alek? It’s too soon for Dancing with the Stars fans to have an answer on that front yet, but viewers are definitely rooting for Alek Skarlatos and Emma Slater to date and give it a solid shot.
