Madonna Projects Nazi Swastika On Image Of Marie Le Pen, Gets Threatened With Legal Action

Madonna has been threatened with legal action after she pasted a Nazi swastika on an image of Marie Le Pen, leader of one of France’s more popular political parties.

Le Pen is the leader of the cuddly National Front, a far-right organisation that polled almost 18 per cent of votes in the recent French presidential election – despite some of its members being formerly linked with anti-Semitic groups and statements.

Madonna clearly isn’t a Le Pen fan. At a concert last Thursday in Tel Aviv, Israel, the French politician’s face appeared on Madge’s giant stage screen with a swastika projected onto her forehead.

Now, the furious Le Pen says she’ll sue the performer if the same image is used when Madonna tours France in July. She added that Madonna was a shameless self-publicist (NO WAI!) and also accused the 53-year-old singer of being, er, old:

“We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes. If she does that in France, we’ll be waiting.”

Another party source argued that the strong turnout for the National Front in France’s elections meant Madonna had offended a high number of French citizens:

“We are not a Nazi party, and object to being depicted as such. If you accuse the National Front of being anti-Semitic and racist then you accuse a fifth of the French people of being anti-Semitic and racist. If Madonna repeats this slur in France then she will certainly be taken to court.”

Madonna’s provocative image may well have been influenced by her boyfriend: she is currently dating French dancer Brahim Zaibat, who has a North African Muslim immigrant background. Le Pen has regularly spoken about clamping down on Islamic culture within France.

Madonna is set to perform next month at the Stade de France in Paris, and then in Nice on the Riviera.
