Pokemon Z: Zygarde Forms Hint At New Pokemon Game
Leaked images from CoroCoro, a Japanese comic and gaming magazine with close ties to Nintendo, of never before seen forms of Zygarde — the third legendary Pokémon from Pokémon X and Y — make a Pokémon Z Nintendo 3DS installment likely. Nintendo is making a Pokemon announcement on October 29, a date when Pokémon Z is speculated to be announced, reports The Christian Post.
Regularly, CoroCoro announces Pokémon news. In this case, five new forms of Zygarde, the third legendary Pokémon present in Pokémon X and Y was shown. The fives forms are “Cell, Core, 10%, 50%” and “Perfect Forme.” The U.S. version of Zygarde’s “Perfect Forme” will be called “Complete Forme.” Zygarde’s “50% Forme” should look familiar to owners of Pokémon X and Y already, it’s the form Zygarde normally has in the game.
Zygarde’s five new forms — or four when you discount the already available “50% Forme” — will likely appear in Pokémon Z.
Hackers dug through Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire to find unreleased legendary Pokémon Diancie, Mega Latios and Latias, and Hoopa’s Unbound Forme — but found no sign of Zygarde’s new forms. It’s logical to deduce Zygarde’s new forms will be released in a new Pokémon Z version.
These new Zygarde forms will debut in upcoming episodes of the Pokémon anime, but we’ll certainly see them in an upcoming game, too. A likely title of this new version is Pokémon Z after the legendary Pokémon Zygarde, since Pokémon X and Y are named after the legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal, respectively.
Also, a special Greninja called “Ash-Greninja” was shown in the magazine. This Greninja changes its look based on the Pokémon anime character Ash’s clothing. It’s possible Pokémon Z, which will probably have the same custom clothing feature from Pokémon X and Y, might include a similar feature for players.
Pokémon Z remains unconfirmed, but historically Nintendo releases a third version to follow the initial pair of new generation Pokémon games. This third version typically includes Pokémon that were exclusive to one of the two previous versions, new features and changes to the storyline.
This has been the case since Pokémon Yellow came out in 1998, two years after Pokémon Red and Blue.
The tradition was broken in 2012 with Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, which followed Pokémon Black and White.
It’s possible Nintendo might follow a similar path and bring out sequels to Pokemon X and Y instead of making a Pokémon Z version. These potential sequels would probably have Zygarde’s new forms instead.
