Katy Perry is still making headlines for her Super Bowl Halftime Show, which aired on Sunday, February 7, 2015. Millions of fans tuned into see the pop star perform a medley of her hits alongside Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot.

Now fans can go behind the scenes with the new documentary called Katy Perry: Making of the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. Perry’s halftime show made headlines because of those dancing sharks, her polka dot bikini-clad dancers, and for the fact that it’s become the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show ever.

The documentary reveals how Katy was able to pull off one of the most iconic halftime performances in just six months. It takes you behind the scenes of the constant dance rehearsals and stressful technical glitches that occurred up to the show. Katy’s halftime show looked flawless when as it played out live on television, but the preparations didn’t go without having a little drama, of course.

Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot also famously performed alongside Katy Perry, so expect to see them in the documentary as well. The film will also uncover the greatest mysteries of all: those dancing sharks and how they were invited to perform at Perry’s show.

John Hirsch’s documentary was actually pieced together from over 100 hours of footage. It follows Katy as she tirelessly prepares for the one of the biggest events in her life. It also shows fans how much pressure Katy went through to deliver a memorable performance in front of millions.

Super Bowl XLIX was one of the most-watched live televised events in history. It raked in as many as 114.5 million viewers on NBC, and as many as 118.5 million viewers tuned in to see Katy Perry’s 12-minute halftime performance. It’s definitely a performance that defined Perry’s career not only as a pop star, but as a pop culture icon and celebrity.

The performer for next year’s halftime show has yet to be announced, but it’s been rumored that the NFL has already offered it to Bruno Mars, who performed at the 2014 Super Bowl. Other rumored performers include Britney Spears and Taylor Swift.

Katy Perry: Making of the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show will make its premiere on Saturday, September 19 at the La Costa Film Festival. There’s no word on whether or not the documentary will be made available to Perry’s fans and the rest of the world.

For now, fans will have to wait for Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour movie, which is set for release on DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital format on October 30, 2015.
