‘Fear The Walking Dead’: Did We Just Get A Glimpse Of The Plane In The Standalone ‘Zombies On A Plane’ Special?

Episode 3 (entitled “The Dog”) of AMC’s new zombie series, Fear The Walking Dead aired on Sunday, and, with it, fans may have just gotten a glimpse of the plane that could be featured in the standalone show based on the series. Recently AMC announced there would be a half hour program based in the Walking Dead universe. This program would be set on a plane and a character who survives the flight will be a new character in Fear The Walking Dead.

As recently announced by Entertainment Weekly, AMC has decided on adding another standalone series to the Walking Dead universe. While this one will not be an entire series, it will, instead, be a series of small episodes that will run for around thirty minutes in total. The first snippet will screen online and then the other segments will play out, most likely, over the ad breaks in season 6 of The Walking Dead. The culmination of the short series already affectionately dubbed “Zombies on a Plane” will see a surviving character who will join the cast of Fear The Walking Dead, most likely in season 2.

As was discussed earlier in this Inquisitr article, there are already a few suspects when it comes to potential new Fear The Walking Dead characters. Potentially, one of the parents of Alicia’s (Alycia Debnam-Carey) boyfriend, Matt (Maestro Harrell) could be on the plane that will be overcome with the infected. Tobias’ (Lincoln A. Castellanos) mother is another contender. Finally, a relative of the Salazars could also be the potential new character revealed on AMC’s standalone Walking Dead special. Alternatively, it could be a whole new character that is not at all related to the already established characters.

So when did this plane appear?

There was just a very brief moment at the end of Episode 3 when Nick (played by Frank Dillane) was casing his neighbors’ houses for drugs. A little girl waves at Nick from across the driveway while he is trying to break into a house. This spooks Nick just enough to leave the house and head for another one. But, before he can move on, the sound of an airplane distracts him.

Nick runs out from the house and onto the street where he gets a better view of the plane.

The plane then lilts and tips in the sky before flying on at an angle. Could this indicate that the plane is in distress? Could it be the plane that will be used in the Fear The Walking Dead standalone special? Only time will tell.
