Bindi Irwin Channels Britney Spears For ‘Dancing With The Stars’: Her First Song Revealed

Bindi Irwin is preparing for her Dancing with the Stars Season 21 debut by channeling Britney Spears. And no, the 17-year-old didn’t borrow a page from the pop princess’ playbook by dressing up in a sexed-up schoolgirl outfit — instead, she made a scaly new friend ahead of Monday night’s big premiere.

According to E! News, Bindi Irwin brought a python as her date to Thursday night’s Dancing with the Stars premiere party on Hollywood Boulevard. She wore her date to the party, and the stunt was reminiscent of Britney Spears’ snake-charming “I’m a Slave 4 U” performance at the 2001 MTV VMAs. However, the outfit Bindi paired her python with wasn’t quite as revealing, and she looked a lot more comfortable carrying the critter around than poor Brit-Brit did.

Bindi Irwin’s pro partner, Derek Hough, shared a video of Bindi hanging out with her totally chill python pal, and the animal lover couldn’t resist turning the short clip into a wildlife lesson.

“This is an albino burmese python,” Bindi Irwin says in the clip below. “Her name is Sally and she loves dancing, even though she doesn’t have any ears and can’t hear.”

There’s no word on whether Sally managed to slither her way into Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough’s first Dancing with the Stars performance, but their dance is going to be inspired by another scaly critter that’s very close to Bindi’s heart. According to ABC, Bindi and Derek will either be doing the Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Salsa, Quickstep, or Jive to the Elton John song “Crocodile Rock.” The song is a fitting choice, because Bindi is the daughter of Steve Irwin, the late star of the popular Crocodile Hunter TV series.

Bindi Irwin might not be intimidated by pythons and crocodiles and other fearsome critters, but there’s an aspect of Dancing with the Stars that’s making the adorable Aussie a bit uneasy. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Bindi recently revealed that her biggest weakness is going to be dancing in high heels. She’s used to navigating rough terrain, but Bindi said that she “instantly fell down” after putting on heels for the first time.

You can watch Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough, aka “Team Crikey,” hopping and bopping to the “Crocodile Rock” when Dancing with the Stars premieres Monday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
