Ray J Hospitalized After Billboard Awards For Exhaustion, Jet Lag

31-year-old singer Ray J remains hospitalized after falling ill following the Billboard awards.

Ray J, who was linked with Whitney Houston at the time of her death, was admitted Monday morning at a Las Vegas hospital after he was reportedly found in his hotel room, disoriented and “out of it.” TMZ is reporting that Ray J’s illness the Monday after the Billboard awards comes after the R&B singer experienced a confrontation of some sort with the Houston camp, including Whitney’s mother Pat Houston.

As we reported earlier, the confrontation that occurred at the awards show was said to be due to the fact that Whitney’s mom was incensed at being seated next to Ray J, being of the mind that Brandy’s brother was a terrible influence on her daughter. What happened between that time and Ray J’s hospitalization isn’t clear, but a rep for the singer explained that a tight schedule and a whirlwind China trip caused Ray J’s exhaustion:

“Ray J has been in a Las Vegas area hospital since the early morning of Monday and will remain there for treatment for exhaustion and jet lag… Ray J had just returned to the US from a quick 32-hour round trip from China where he performed a concert and had meetings regarding a new business. Upon landing, he immediately drove four hours to Las Vegas for the two events.”

Ray J was reportedly devastated after the death of Whitney, and in a statement after her death, told press:

“Over the past few days, I’ve tried to process the emptiness that I am experiencing. What my heart feels cannot be expressed in words. The world lost an icon, but I lost my close friend.”

It is not yet known when Ray J will be released from the hospital.
