Mark Zuckerberg Adds ‘Vanity Fair Cover Model’ To Resume
Mark Zuckerberg has a new title to add to his resume: Vanity Fair cover model. The Facebook CEO will appear on the October issue, where he talks all about his decisions to wear grey on a daily basis and his $2 billion deal to acquire Oculus. Annie Lebowitz photographed the cover image and shots for the spread.
Zuckerberg already gained a title from the prestigious magazine. He was named as one of the top of the New Establishment list, and is the youngest ever to even be ranked; let alone be at the top. The Daily Mail reports that the list is the top 50 innovators who have defined the ways people interact, work and play. They also influence the products consumed around the world. It may be of no surprise to some to hear that the Facebook CEO has been named near the top of the list for 2015, considering the popularity of the social media site.
Others on the list include Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and TV host John Oliver. Right at the top of the list is country-turned-pop star Taylor Swift.
Graydon Carter, editor for the magazine, says that even at 31 years old, Mark stands out as an elder statement. He has proven himself to be a “brilliant entrepreneur” after creating such a popular site from his Harvard dormroom; an Ivy League University from which he never graduated.
“He has not only proved himself as a brilliant entrepreneur; he may well become one of the great long-haul corporate leaders of the past half-century. The $240 billion company he scratched out of his dorm room at Harvard is apparently just his first step toward world domination in the realm of social networking.”
Mark Zuckerberg decided to keep his wardrobe simple. For many Vanity Fair cover stars, it is all about showing off latest designer dresses or posing sophisticatedly nude with a baby bump on show. The social media creator decided on his trademark grey t-shirt and jeans. As The Guardian points out, Mark chooses grey because it limits his choices throughout the day. He has often said that making choices on “frivolous things” means that he feels like he is not doing his job. The only thing missing from his usual wardrobe was his hooded sweatshirt.
The Vanity Fair spread will look into Zuckerberg’s decision to take over Oculus Rift. He said in March 2014 on his own social media page that he would acquire it. The Rift, set for release early next year, was created by 22-year-old entrepreneur Palmer Luckey. The Facebook mastermind was instantly impressed with the idea of immersive gaming. Others have felt the same way, saying that it is very different to anything they have ever tried before. It was no surprise for many to hear that Mark Zuckerberg would acquire another highly anticipated technology project.
