Michelle Obama’s Birthday Wish To ‘Role Model’ Beyoncé Leads To Social Media Backlash
Michelle Obama brought some negative attention to Beyoncé when wishing her a happy birthday today.
Happy birthday to the one and only, Queen ?! Thank you for being a role model for young girls around the world, @Beyonce. -mo

Those who believe Beyoncé is anything but a role model took to article discussions to lash back at Mrs. Obama. Comments after an article on Beyoncé on Entertainment Weekly were rather harsh.
“Can you tell me what type of ‘role model’ Beyonce is? She takes off her close like a prostitute and calls herself a feminist? She was a known homophobe before it became ‘in fashion’ to support gays and lesbians. Then, she started waving the rainbow flag like she invented it,” comments gaysagainstjenner.
“Thanks for calling Beyonce on this. She is as fake as they come. She proved that just by manipulating daddy that she can become a star. Why would Michelle Obama EVER consider this pig a role model?” responded Proud Gay Millennial.
The comments were a little more balanced on the Huffington Post.
“I love Michelle and I like Bey, but she is not a role model for young girls!!!! Michelle is the real role model!” exclaimed Cheryl Stewart.
The anti-Beyoncé lynch mob on Twitter was particularly vicious.
How can @MichelleObama call @Beyonce a role model. She's tacky, untalented, and vicious towards other female singers. #notalent.

To be fair, there are a lot of people celebrating Beyoncé’s birthday. But the cruel comments, especially by alleged gay men, are rather interesting. Beyoncé’s critics always claim she is overrated and they don’t like being told what a great role model she is. A couple of years back, Rakhi Kumar wrote an open letter to Michelle Obama (that appeared on the Huffington Post) declaring the Queen Bee as a bad role model.
“When Beyonce kicked off her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour two nights ago, wearing her sheer bodysuit with nipples showing, to me she performed the final degradation of her talent; a retrogressive transformation that has taken someone steller and otherworldy, and made them into something dreadfully familiar and sad.”
Many people called Kumar’s letter sexist and Beyoncé never commented. Do you think Beyoncé is a good role model? Let us know in the comments section.
