Kanye West’s ‘Cruel Summer’ To Debut At Cannes Film Festival

Kanye West will be debuting a short film called Cruel Summer next week at the Cannes Film Festival.

Island Def Jam announced that West’s new film will premiere in France on May 23rd.

The Huffington Post reports that West wrote and directed Cruel Summer. The short film, which will feature rapper Kid Cudi and “Parks and Recreations” star Aziz Ansari, was described by West as a”a fusion of short film and art installation.” Apart from that, not much is known about the film. But if you’re in Cannes and went to check out the “immersive seven-screen experience,” you can RSVP here.

According to Spin.com, the new film will likely feature the Middle East since the poster credits Qatar’s Doha Film Institute. The movie may also be set in the year 2016. West mentioned that he was working on a “7 screen experience” that would be set in 2016 during a Twitter rant earlier this year, but West said that the name of that project was 2016 OLYMPIC.

This won’t be West’s first venture into short films. In 2010 he released a short film featuring Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks for his single “Runaway.”

Here’s Kanye West’s Runaway. (Possible NSFW for yeah, that girl’s pretty much naked.)
