‘Hawaii Five-0’ Spoilers: New Love Interests For Steve And Chin
There are at least two new recurring characters coming to Hawaii Five-0 Season 6 – and both are connected to one of the team in a romantic way. Plus, details about one of them suggest that a certain someone who returned at the end of Season 5 may not be sticking around for too long.
The Hawaii Five-0 Season 5 finale not only saw the build-up to Kono and Adam’s wedding and the team tracking down a stolen nuclear bomb, but also the return of Catherine. With everything going on – Kono and Adam didn’t even get a chance to get married on screen, but they will be married when the new season begins – Steve and Catherine didn’t exactly have a chance to talk about what her return means for their relationship other than to admit they missed each other and talk around her possibly staying.
According to the synopsis for the H50 Season 6 premiere, in addition to the team investigating a centuries-old pirate story involving buried treasure and Gabriel kidnapping and torturing Kono and Adam the day after their wedding, Danny is going to show concern for Steve when it comes to Catherine being back. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Michelle Borth will be in a few episodes at the beginning of the season as she and Steve figure out where they stand.
However, Deadline has reported that Falling Skies‘ Sarah Carter is going to recur as Lynn in Season 6. Lynn is “a nature enthusiast and avid explorer McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) takes to a remote island on an adventurous first date, where they stumble upon a criminal hideout that puts both of their lives in danger.”
With Carter recurring and going on at least a first date with Steve, that doesn’t seem to bode well for his future with Catherine. Though there could always be more to the story, that does suggest that fans of their relationship may not be happy with the outcome of what showrunner Peter Lenkov previously teased for TVGuide.
“The first few episodes [of Season 6] include a McGarrett/Catherine arc that will answer [how long she’s staying]. I can promise you that by Episode 3, there will be a surprising turn in their relationship.”
Steve’s not the only one getting a new love interest in Hawaii Five-0 Season 6. Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) is as well, as Entertainment Weekly has reported that Defiance‘s Julie Benz will be recurring as Jennifer, a San Francisco detective “heading up a task force modeled after Five-0” with whom he “forms a strong connection,” and she will be in “at least three episodes.”
Hawaii Five-0 Season 6 premieres Friday, September 25 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
