Nicki Minaj Thanks Her Pastor After Winning Award For ‘Anaconda’
Rapper Nicki Minaj threw out a somewhat unexpected thank you to her pastor during the VMA’s where she received an award for her song “Anaconda.” The song that Minaj won an award for is very sexually suggestive, so some thought it was ironic that the rapper thanked her pastor when receiving the award.
Perez Hilton allegedly spoke with Nicki’s pastor to get her take on the whole thing. Her pastor is reportedly very proud of her.

After receiving her award for Best Hip Hop Video, Nicki also had a profane exchange with host Miley Cyrus during the awards.

As TMZ notes, Miley Cyrus recently said some less than flattering things about Nicki Minaj.
“Not to sound like a b***h, but that’s like, ‘Eh, I didn’t get my VMA’…If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: ‘This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type.'”
Cyrus continued saying that Nicki isn’t kind or polite.
“Nicki Minaj is not too kind and not very polite. I know you can make it seem like, oh I just don’t understand because I’m a white pop star. I know the statistics. I know what’s going on in the world. But to be honest, I don’t think MTV did that on purpose.”
When Nicki was given the microphone at the awards, she took the opportunity to address Ms. Cyrus’ remarks.
“And now, back to this b***h that had a lot to say about me in the press; Miley, what’s good?”
Cyrus replied by suggesting that the media had distorted what she had said about Minaj. Though Ms. Minaj did seem genuinely upset when she addressed Miley, some have speculated that the exchange was staged.
Many people thought it was strange that Nicki would thank her pastor, then within seconds attack the host of the VMA’s with curse words. Whether the exchange was staged or not, it certainly got people talking and added some great entertainment value to the awards.
