Kanye West Says He’s Running For President
Kanye West is running for President of the United States of America in 2020. Well, that’s what he said at least.
West announced his desire to run for the presidency following a passionate speech at the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night. West was accepting the network’s prestigious Video Vanguard Award.

West unleashed a passionate speech, explaining that having a daughter changed his life and put in perspective several points of his life. He mentioned wearing leather shirts, sharing alcohol with audience members, and of course, the infamous altercation with Taylor Swift at the VMA awards in 2009.
The aforementioned Swift actually presented West with the Award, and noted that his College Dropout album was the first that she and her brother downloaded on iTunes when she was 12-years-old.
“We’re gonna teach our kids to believe in themselves,” West said. Saying that the current generation shouldn’t be taught to have low self-esteem and a lack of ambition. “You know what, I’m confident bro…I believe in myself,” he said.
West went on a passionate tangent, saying that for a long time he just wanted to be liked, but now he’ll opt just to be himself. West mentioned that he’ll go through lines at stores only to get responses such as “you’re not that bad after all.”
West admitted that he was high during the speech saying he’d rolled up prior to showing up.
“Did he smoke something before he came out here? The answer is yes I rolled up a little something!” said West, which garnered a giant roar from the crowd.
West also flashed a rare smile at the beginning of the speech, unable to hide his joy from the Los Angeles Crowd. West also said that he would “die for his art,” yet another memorable line in an unforgettable acceptance speech. The true shocker came at the end, when West dropped a bombshell.
“I have decided in 2020 to run for president,” West exclaimed, as he dropped the mic and exited the stage.

It’s highly unlikely that the 38-year-old West is serious about his run for president. Even if he were, it’s also highly doubtful it would go very far due to the poor reputation he holds. Which party will he affiliate with? Who will be his running mate? Will he have a first-pet?
West received his first endorsement for president, at least in a joking fashion from VMA host Miley Cyrus, shortly after the announcement.
