Nick Carter Officially Joins ‘DWTS’ Cast For Season 21
Nick Carter has officially joined Dancing With the Stars for Season 21. According to Us Weekly, the star told the outlet about the big news after rumors circulated about the boybander being in talks for the dance competition.
The Backstreet Boy said, “I’m excited” about the opportunity to show the world that he still has moves. Carter isn’t the first boyband member to join the show. Prior to him, 98 Degrees member Drew Lachey, who went on to become the champion, joined the show. In addition, former Nsync members Joey Fatone and Lance Bass joined the show on separate seasons.
In fact, it was none other than boyband rival Joey Fatone that talked Carter into joining the cast for this season. The youngest member of the Backstreet Boys said of the exchange, “He talks about it all the time and I was really debating if I wanted to do it.”
According to Carter, Fatone told him of the whole experience, “It’s a great experience, it keeps you in shape and it’ll teach you a lot of stuff. “He said, ‘You’ll get what you put into it.’ And I’m a hard worker, so I think it’ll be fun.”
Nick won’t be the first Carter to make an appearance on Dancing With the Stars. His little brother, Aaron Carter, was on Season 9. At the time, he finished in fifth place with his dancing partner Karina Smirnoff.
Of Aaron’s experience, Nick said, “My brother was on it; he did great; and he’s a great little dancer and entertainer so I saw it through his eyes throughout that experience. And there’s a lot of competitiveness in me and I think there’s a little something inside of me that says, ‘Okay, I’m going to go there and represent the Carter name and do even better than what he did!'”
As the Inquisitr reported, Dancing With the Stars has eyed a few high profiled celebrities to join their upcoming season. Originally DWTS pitched the idea to Demi Moore to pick up where her ballroom champion daughter Rumer left off, but she declined the invitation to join the cast. Full House‘s Jodie Sweetin was approached and really wanted to participate, but her shooting schedule for Netflix’s Fuller House got in the way. At the time it was believed that Alexa Vega entered talks.
A major shake up is happening on the upcoming season of the show. Resident judge, Len Goodman, is leaving after 20 seasons on the show. The 71-year-old former dancer released a statement in regards to his exit.
