First Look At Lady Gaga As Countess Elizabeth In ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’

Lady Gaga will play Countess Elizabeth, the nefarious owner of the hotel in Season 5 of American Horror Story, and the first photos of Mother Monster on the set of the hit anthology series filming in Los Angeles have already surfaced. Series creator Ryan Murphy describes Elizabeth as “a very wealthy social doyenne who is consumed with art and fashion and people.”

Wearing a caped magenta gown and two jewel-encrusted serpent broaches, The Countess was spotted filming on location for the series on Wednesday night outside of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), HuffPost reports. Fans filmed the award-winning singer and fashionista walking through artist Chris Burden’s iconic street lamp sculpture. Check out a fan-made video below of Gaga filming a crying scene. As Inquisitr previously reported, don’t expect any musical moments from Gaga, who will play the lover to several characters on the show, including Angela Basset. Angela plays Romana Royale, an actress who she describes as “sexy as hell.” Romana doesn’t live in the hotel, but she visits often. Ryan said Gaga will also have a “pretty spectacular” murder scene with co-star Matt Bomer.

Although FX President John Landgraf previously said it’s his “hope” that Season 5 takes place in the modern-day, the era in which AHS: Hotel will be set remains a mystery; however, it will likely hit the years 1989 or 1990 when Aileen Wuornos murdered several men. Lily Rabe will portray the infamous serial killer this season.

Burden’s sculpture “Urban Light” was installed outside LACMA in 2008, and is made up of restored cast iron street lamps from the 1920s and ’30s. Could “Hotel” take place then? Ryan has said “Hotel” was inspired by a surveillance video from an allegedly haunted Los Angeles-based hotel that surfaced two years ago. The video shows a young woman inside an elevator who was never seen again.

In a recent interview with CR Fashion Book , Gaga said that she would rather be called the next Iron Maiden than be compared to pop veteran Madonna.

“They’re one of the greatest rock bands in history, in my opinion,” Gaga said . “Some people really don’t know the importance of metal and the scope of it. Those guys were filling stadiums, and they still are. I always used to say to people, when they would say, ‘Oh, she’s the next Madonna.’ No, I’m the next Iron Maiden.”

Judging from these images, Lady Gaga will rule the hotel in style when American Horror Story:Hotel premieres October 7 on FX.
