Top 5 Rumored Announcements That Disney Will Make At This Weekend’s D23 Expo
This weekend, fans of all things Disney will gather in Anaheim, California for the three-day long D23 Expo. There will be historic tributes, Disney Legends, and looks at the past and into the future. Also, Disney is certain to reveal some very big things in regard to parks and movies and so much more. Rumors are flying, so let’s check out the top five rumors that Disney fans are hoping to hear.
The D23 Expo began back in 2009, and it happens every two years. Often times, Disney reveals some huge pieces of information that detail what is to come from the giant company, and there is a lot of hope on the table from so many for what will be revealed this year.
Please know that these are just rumors, and Disney has not officially confirmed what kind of announcements they will make at the D23 Expo.
1. Expansion/Overhaul of Disney’s Hollywood Studios
This is the big one and what so many are waiting for. Everyone knows that big changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as a name change has already been confirmed, and a number of attractions have already shut down or are being expanded.
The 90-minute Disney Parks and Resorts presentation happens on Saturday, and eager fans are waiting to see what is revealed. Many changes are coming to DHS, and the anticipation is eating away at everyone. Hopefully, more will be revealed soon.
2. Star Wars Land
Going along with the DHS expansion is the rumor that Star Wars Land is coming to parks on both coasts. Disney head Bob Iger has said already that Star Wars will have an increased presence in Disney Parks, but nothing more than that.
It is rumored and expected that both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Parks will have announcements made of some sort of Star Wars Land to be created in each.
3. Bigger Marvel incorporation into Disney Parks
Marvel is making huge money at the box office, but Disney has not brought a lot of it into its theme parks as of yet. That may soon end up changing with attractions, more meet-and-greets, and even art classes. Walt Disney World still has issues with having Marvel in its parks due to Universal Studios already having deals in place from long ago.
Rumors of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure getting something Marvel and/or Star Wars-related gained steam when Disney bought land nearby in Anaheim recently.
4. Walt Disney World Parks getting new nighttime shows
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is already prepping to begin the “Rivers of Light” nighttime show in 2016, but what about the other three parks? Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has just received some upgrades recently, so they may just build that up a bit more.
The main wonder is about Epcot, which is rumored to have a replacement for Illuminations, but that speculation has been around for years. The Magic Kingdom would get a new fireworks (or drone fireworks) show sometime in the future as well, but again, that’s just speculation at this time.
5. MyMagic+ coming to Disneyland
It’s been rumored for years that Disneyland would get the same technologically-enhanced treatment that Walt Disney World now has. Now, it seems more and more likely that sometime in the next year, Disneyland will get MyMagic+ which brings in MagicBands, FASTPass+, and so much more.
There are a number of other big things that are rumored and some sure to happen, but what about the new Soarin’ attraction and Disney Springs and Pixar films and new Disney films? Well, all of that is sure to be covered as this year’s D23 Expo is bound to bring a lot of information.
This weekend, the D23 Expo is going to take place in Anaheim and reveal a lot of information about Disneyland, Walt Disney World, parks around the world, movies, and more. The rumors will keep flying until then, but the wait is almost over.
