Wii U Seeing ‘Walking Dead’ Combo Pack Possibly After Three Years
With Wii U, like in a lot of things, it’s better late than never. The well-received and critically-acclaimed Walking Dead game is finally coming to Wii U in a combo pack, Euro Gamer reports.
According to several reports, a Walking Dead combo pack for Wii U featuring Seasons 1 and 2 of Walking Dead was seen listed on online retailer Game UK’s website. Seen listed on the Game UK website, the Walking Dead combo pack for Wii U is currently available for pre-order and is set for release and shipping on October 30. The combo pack is said to include Seasons 1 and 2 of Walking Dead and possibly the bridging episode “400 Days” released in 2013.
While this Walking Dead game news for the Wii U still isn’t confirmed by Telltale, a lot of Wii U gamers and Walking Dead fans at the Telltale Community Forums are already discussing how incredible it’ll be for the Walking Dead franchise to finally come to Wii.
The Walking Dead pretty much came out for all imaginable platforms — Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, iOS, Android, PC, and Mac — everywhere except in Nintendo consoles Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Is Telltale somehow holding a grudge against Wii U and 3DS? A lot of people are already confused as to why Telltale continues to avoid the Wii U and 3DS, knowing that their point-and-click adventure games will be perfect for the Wii U and 3DS platforms. Apart from The Walking Dead avoiding the Wii U, more Telltale games like Sam and Max: The Devil’s Playhouse, The Wolf Among Us, and Game of Thrones aren’t available for the Wii U, and fans are asking the big question, “Why?”
A lot of Wii U fans are speculating that while these Telltale games might be perfect for the Wii U in terms of playability, they are possibly too mature for the console. There’s slim chance that Nintendo would approve these M-rated games to be ported to the Wii U and other Nintendo consoles. While The Walking Dead was very much loved and supported in countless consoles across the board, it’s still an M-rated game that is extremely violent and profanity-laden, recommended only for gamers 18 years old and above. Knowing Nintendo’s patronage of kid-friendly titles, M-rated titles like The Walking Dead coming to Wii U was shooting for the moon.
But with this new development circulating online, there is a possibility that Wii U is finally overlooking the perils of the Walking Dead game and finally letting Telltale port it to the Wii U console. This is a possibility and a huge leap for Wii U and Nintendo, but with no official announcements yet from Nintendo regarding the Walking Dead game coming to Wii U, we should take everything with a pinch of salt.
