Andy Cohen Denies Bethenny Frankel And Carole Radziwill Get Special Treatment
Andy Cohen has denied that his personal friendships with The Real Housewives of New York City stars Bethenny Frankel and Carole Radziwill means that they get special treatment on the show. In his latest Ask Andy segment, posted on Friday, Andy, an executive producer of Real Housewives, maintained that all of the women get treated equally when it comes to the show.
Andy was asked if he has received any digs from the other housewives about his personal friendships with Bethenny and Carole. Andy admitted that Brandi Glanville, former star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, has given him a hard time about having “favorites.” He then addressed the rumor that Bethenny has control over how she’s portrayed on the show.
“Sometimes, I mean, Brandi talked to me about, you know Brandi would say, ‘Your favorites…’ There was a rumor going around earlier this year that Bethenny had creative control over her scenes or control over the edit. I mean, I think Bethenny, if you like, you know Bethenny and I are friendly but if you look at everything on screen of her, there’s been nothing that we haven’t shown. We’ve shown every embarrassing moment possible.”
Andy pointed out that if Bethenny did have some kind of control over the show, viewers wouldn’t have seen what they have this season.
“I can’t imagine that you can look at the New York housewives and think she was somehow protected this season. She’s breaking down in tears all the time. She’s ripping people’s faces off. So it’s not like we’ve shielded her from any of that.”
In October 2014, Andy revealed on Ask Andy that he personally convinced Bethenny to return to The Real Housewives of New York City after being away for several seasons.
“The thing transpired in her kitchen…I went over there to convince her to come back to the show and she had different ideas about things she wanted to do…I kind of said, ‘I don’t think that those are good ideas.’ I said, ‘I have a good idea.’ And then I brought it up and she’s like, ‘OK, I’m listening,’ and then I really told her all my reasons and I could tell that she was seriously going to think about it. We had a very long talk about it and we had a couple more long talks about it and then she said, ‘I’m in.’ We had a deal.”
One thing that Andy loves about Bethenny is her humor. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, right after filming the Season 7 reunion show, Andy said that Bethenny gave the best one-liners during the taping.
Andy Cohen also personally convinced Carole Radziwill, who forged a friendship with Bethenny Frankel this season, to join the show. Prior to the Season 5 premiere, Carole told The Daily Beast that Andy asked her to consider doing the show over dinner one night.
“My first impulse was to say no. I thought, he’s not serious. And then he sent an email the next day to follow up.”
