Playstation Plus Offers Up ‘Lara Croft And Temple Of Osiris,’ ‘LIMBO’ As Free Games In August

Sony formally announced the six titles that will be available for free to Playstation Plus subscribers during the month of August. Players will be able to pick up four games on their Playstation 4s, four titles on their Playstation 3s, and three entries on their PS Vitas. Playstation Plus members can start downloading August’s free games on August 4.

Playstation 4 owners who are also subscribed to Playstation Plus can download and enjoy Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, LIMBO, Sound Shapes, and Stealth 2: A Game of Clones. Temple of Osiris and Limbo are only available to Playstation 4 players while Sound Shapes and Stealth 2 can be played on Playstation 3 and PS Vita as well. Playstation 3 users will find God of War Ascension and Castle Storm as free downloads if they are Playstation Plus subscribers. The latter is also available to those that have access to a PS Vita as well.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is an action-adventure puzzle game that touts co-op play and plenty of treasure. Players take Croft, a rival explorer named Carter Bell, and two imprisoned gods; Isis and Horus, on an adventure to defeat Set; a god determined to enslave all of humanity. Players can easily drop-in and drop-out of the game either on the couch or online in this fully cooperative campaign.

LIMBO is a game better left undescribed before playing. The title drips with ambiance and will likely unsettle any player that forms a connection between themselves and the boy in LIMBO. The game is a 2D platform puzzler with a unique art style telling the story of a brother looking for his sister.

Sound Shapes, a rhythm game, focuses on platforming and music mixing on a 2D backdrop. Players can use music from artists including Beck and Jim Guthrie to accompany art by Capy, Pixeljam, and more to create something quite beautiful. Community uploads and milkcrate additions keep players coming back for more.

Stealth 2: A Game of Clones puts Playstation Plus users in the role of a clone trying to escape a futuristic building filled with tests. As a clone, and with no lives or loading screens, players are encouraged to do whatever it takes to get out of the facility with the use of gadgets in this 2D puzzle platformer.

Finally, players can also download God of War: Ascension and Castle Storm as part of August’s free Playstation Plus lineup. Ascension continues the story of Kratos in the game’s campaign while adding an objective-based multiplayer feature to the series. Castle Storm is described as including “2D physics destruction mashed with tower defense brawler.”

All of these games will be offered to Playstation Plus members during the month of August starting on August 4. Titles can be added to a player’s library, often postponing the download, for free until next month’s line up becomes available.
