Eva Longoria Does Wear Glasses, Calls Out Haters Who Insist She Doesn’t
Eva Longoria would like you to know that she does, in fact, wear glasses, thank you very much.
So why would the issue of whether or not a 40-year-old woman wears glasses be a matter of controversy (as most over 40 can confidently tell you, glasses are all but unavoidable past 40)? Because as Mashable reports, Eva Longoria is a spokesperson for Specsavers, a discount eyewear brand. She was recently in Australia promoting her brand.
This didn’t sit well with Sydney Morning Herald writer Jenna Clarke, who claimed that Eva Longoria doesn’t wear glasses, and that it’s hypocritical of her to be shilling eyewear when she herself doesn’t need it.
“We had Eva Longoria, the star of Desperate Housewives (don’t remember it? Ask your [grandma] about how popular it was like a decade ago) in town representing a budget eyewear chain, but according to photographers that have been snapping her for close to 15 years — she doesn’t wear spectacles… [Eva is] a serial offender when it comes to selling out in a not so subtle way.”
Oh snap.
Other publications, including the Inquisitr, repeated the Herald‘s claim that Eva Longoria doesn’t wear glasses.
There’s just one problem: Eva does wear glasses, as any Google Images search will tell you in a fraction of a second. Eva pointed this out on her official Twitter feed.

The Inquisitr pulled its own article about Eva’s glasses after the Herald‘s original claim was rebutted.
Eva struck back at Clarke for her claims, posting an “open letter” to the writer for not having all of her facts quite right.
“So next time you want to write an article calling someone ‘shameful’ why don’t you do your research because that is your responsibility as a ‘journalist’ and the Sydney Morning Herald should hold you to that ‘high’ standard even though you are just the Lifestyle journalist. It sounds like maybe you need some glasses yourself. In that case @SpecsaversAustralia has some awesome, stylish glasses available! I recommend the Collette Dinnigan collection!”
Sick burn, Eva! And her fans are loving it.
