‘Prototype’ Remaster For Xbox One Is Bad, Worse Than PlayStation 3 Port
Prototype and Prototype 2 launched their remastered version for Xbox One last week, but gamers and Prototype fans everywhere agreed that the remastered Prototype game is bad. Very bad.
The release of the Prototype remaster Prototype Biohazard Bundle last week was very silent, with no media or internet hype, Polygon reports. And while no one wanted to judge Radical Entertainment for trying not to follow in the footsteps of previous game developers who blew up the internet prior to their releases, it has now become clear why Prototype wanted to go out as quietly as possible. It’s because it’s just so bad no one understood why the new Prototype game for Xbox One called itself a “remaster.”
Euro Gamer took the dirty work and compared the performance of Prototype and Prototype 2 in three consoles: in Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The Prototype remaster for Xbox One was planned to work at 1080p, a standard new-generation console quality from the previous 720p of the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. It should also work at 30fps. However, after the tests and trials, the Prototype and Prototype 2 remasters didn’t put up quite well to the expectations, even dropping to as low as 18fps at certain parts. Considering the plain, repetitive background design and the modest gameplay, no one quite understood why Prototype even had to release a remaster for the Xbox One.
All throughout the Prototype Biohazard Bundle gameplay, cut-scenes stutter at certain intervals where the camera turns to a different angle. The heavy screen tearing and abominable frame rates were so over the top it’s actually quite distracting to even play it for an extended period of time.
At the end of the Prototype comparison test between the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, it’s disappointing that the Xbox One port performed the worst, with the PlayStation 3 port at the top. This is quite embarrassing for both Prototype developer Radical Entertainment and Microsoft, since the Prototype version in Sony’s old-gen console PlayStation 3 outshines the Xbox One’s remaster at all intervals of the trial.

The Prototype Biohazard Bundle as of the moment is already out for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 via online download for $49.99. Gamers could purchase Prototype and Prototype 2 remasters separately by August 11, the International Business Times reports. No reports are going around about the PlayStation 4 version, nor are there any announcements of the Prototype Biohazard Bundle releasing physical copies. But with how things are going right now for the Prototype Biohazard Bundle, we can’t expect too much.
