‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Rumors: Plot Points, Hints Revealed About ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Sequel

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 rumors were addressed by director James Gunn. In addition to Chris Pratt returning in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, Gunn had a few other things to confirm about the film. Marvel fans may finally have some real hints about where the direction of the next film is going to take the lead characters. A report from Variety on Saturday (June 27) actually had Gunn speaking at length about the story arcs that may envelop the team when the sequel hits theaters.

“I think it’s a more emotional movie. It’s both a bigger movie and a smaller movie because we focus more intensely on some of the characters…We get to learn a lot about fathers in the second movie… We haven’t listened to ‘Awesome Mix 2,’ yet, so we get to hear it in the sequel.”

After the success of the risky Guardians of the Galaxy, it isn’t surprising at all that a sequel would be creating so much buzz. With Chris Pratt finding additional success on Jurassic World, fans want to see more of him on the big screen very soon. That’s why the release date for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has already been revealed, with the movie expected to hit theaters on May 5, 2017. It might seem like a long wait, but it gives the writers and director James Gunn a lot of time to get the story just right.

As previously reported at the Inquisitr, the first Guardians of the Galaxy film hit quite a few big milestones at the box office. The film made just over $333 million in domestic box office and an estimated $441 million in foreign markets. It opened as the No. 1 movie in theaters and stands as the 36th highest-grossing film of all time. As for an opening weekend in August, the film broke all the records that had been kept up until that point in 2014.

There is a big part in the Marvel Universe for the characters from this franchise to play, and director James Gunn has a tough task in front of him to weave it all together. There is going to be a lot of buzz as the film gets closer to being released, especially with what might take place in other Marvel films before that point. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 already has a leg up by bringing back Chris Pratt, and now all that is needed is strong writing to continue impressing audiences.
