Fir Tree in Lung
The fir tree in the lung was nearly 2 inches tall. Doctors say the man, a 28-year-old named Artyom Sidorkin, had been complaining of chest pains and coughing up blood, according to a report in the Daily Mail. The surgeons think he somehow swallowed a seed at some point, and it actually sprouted inside his lung.
“I thought I was hallucinating,” one of the doctors tells the Daily Mail. “I asked my assistant to have a look: ‘Come and see this . We’ve got a fir tree here.'”
The surgeons say the pine needles were poking through the man’s capillaries, which was causing his pain.
