Blanket Jackson Changes Name After Bullying: Michael Jackson’s Son Wants To Be Called Bigi [Video]
Blanket Jackson has changed his name after years of bullying. And along with the other children of legendary singer Michael, Blanket Jackson hopes that his new name will give him a fresh start on life, reported Radar Online.
Initially named Michael Jackson Jr. before getting the name Blanket, the seventh grader no longer can tolerate the bullying and teasing linked to his unusual name.
A teenager, Blanket now wants to be called Bigi. He The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, an elite academy in California. But that prestige for the institution doesn’t change the bullying, said a source.
“[Jackson] changed his name informally from Blanket to Bigi before entering Buckley because he hated getting bullied and made fun of because his name was Blanket,” said the source.
The name’s meaning includes inspirational, sensitive and idealistic, according to Radar Online.
In addition, the insider revealed that the teenager blamed Michael for the name Blanket.
“He always thought that the name Blanket sounded so stupid and resented his father for calling him that. Growing up, his school mates have always been slightly mean to him because of their jealousy over who he is and going by Blanket made him a much easier target for ridicule.”
Blanket isn’t alone in struggling to grow up without Michael. Jackson’s other kids are Paris, 17, and Prince, 18. All three live with 85-year-old Katherine and 36-year-old Tito, who are co-guardians.
And for Paris, Jackson’s loss resulted in attempts at suicide, reported Us Weekly.
After Michael died in 2009, Paris grieved for years. She tried to kill herself in 2013, and that attempt was followed by a stay in a rehab treatment center in Utah.
But now, at 17, Jackson is seeking to move on with her life. She even has a new boyfriend, Chester Castellaw, who is 18.
But before she moved on, family and friends were scared that Paris would take her own life, reported the New York Daily News.
Michael Jackson’s daughter had cut herself repeatedly, said an insider.
“Paris absolutely tried to kill herself, and it wasn’t the first time,” added the source.
When she was only 15, Paris created a Tumblr blog focused on suicide and cutting. Pictures included a girl with scissors gashing her arm.
Family insiders revealed that Paris had struggled with depression. She was taken to a hospital after swallowing 20 Motrin and cutting her arm with a knife. After a stay at UCLA Medical Center, Michael’s daughter spent months in the rehab treatment center.
And now, as Bigi and Paris try to move on with their lives through name changes and new relationships, Michael Jackson’s famous ranch, Neverland, is for sale at $100 million, as the Inquisitr reported.
Although it’s minus the carnival rides and Bubbles the chimpanzee that added to its intrigue, it includes 2,700 acres, with features ranging from a Neverland floral clock and a llama peacefully grazing on the ranch.
