Are Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Headed For The Poor House?
There is no doubt that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are as famous for their high-profile lifestyles and their frequent gifts to charities as they are for their big budget Hollywood films. Even as Pitt prepares to spend a bundle on a birthday gift for wife Angelina, sources are reporting that Brad and Jolie are driving themselves to the poor house with their extravagant expenses.
Prompting sources to come forward was the purchase of Ms. Jolie’s birthday gift, a vintage seaplane that will reside on the runway at one of their homes, the Chateau Miraval near Brignoles, France. The French estate holds much significance for Brad and Angelina. It was the setting for Pitt’s proposal to Ms. Jolie, as well as the location of their wedding, which took place earlier this year.
To hear Angelina speak, one would think she knows no sorrows at all, gushing over her family as though they haven’t a care in the world.
“It’s been an amazing year. I married my love, my son [Maddox] became a teenager, and I got to bring [Unbroken] to the world,” Ms. Jolie began. “I would be happy when [acting] is over. If I am lucky enough to have a career as a director, it would be a very nice transition. And then, when I can, Brad and I can work together.”
According to sources close to the high-profile couple, however, there is much cause for concern between Angelina and Brad. The expenses they are currently running up so far have sunken Ms. Jolie and Mr. Pitt nearly $35 million in debt. Aside from that French chateau, valued at $60 million, Brad and Angelina also own a $40 million mansion in Italy, a $1.7 million home in Los Angeles, and a New Orleans house that is currently selling for $6.5 million.
“If they don’t unload it soon they will seriously consider selling the Chateau Miraval too,” the source told OK Magazine.
Adding to their debt are costs related to their charity work and child care for their own brood of adopted children aged six to 13. Yearly childcare costs Angelina and Brad over $1 million a year.
A 2012 vacation for the Pitt-Jolie family included the cost of hiring 12 nannies for the children.
“Their travel costs are ridiculous,” the source said. “Even if they’re not flying privately, they buy first-class tickets for everyone, and that adds up to hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
If that $35 million debt does overwhelm the couple, maybe Ms. Jolie can fly the whole family away on her new seaplane.
In the meantime, Angelina Jolie and Bad Pitt are currently working together on By The Sea, a romantic drama written and directed by Jolie herself. By The Sea is scheduled for a November 13 release.
