Leah Remini played Carrie Heffernan, the wife of Kevin James’ leading character, Doug. She spent most of her camera time throughout the nine-season series run with Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara’s husband of 61 years. Stiller played Carrie’s widowed father who lived in the Heffernan’s basement.

In honor of Anne’s life, Leah Remini used her Instagram page on Sunday to thank her for the moments that they spent together even when the cameras were not running.

“Rest In Peace Anne Meara. Thank you for the laughs on and off the screen of The king Of Queens Your kind of Chutzpah will be greatly missed. It was an honor to know you. Our thoughts and prayers to her family. #GreatTalent #GreatWoman #StillerAndMeara”

Actress Anne Meara passed away on Saturday at the age of 85. Shortly after she married fellow actor and improvisational partner Jerry Stiller, the two formed the popular comedy team known as “Stiller and Meara.”

More than eight years after the series finale, syndicated reruns of The King of Queens are still being shown. The episodes that featured Anne Meara — in addition to her many other performances on the big and small screen alike — will allow her memory to live on for years to come.
