The wait is over believers. Justin Bieber has just released his new single “Boyfriend.”
Bieber, who just turned 18, is definitely going for a more mature sound on the new track. MTV says that the Biebs is channeling Justin Timberlake as the Canadian star raps, sings in falsetto, and whispers sweet nothings into the microphone on “Boyfriend.”
Bieber said:
“I’m maturing, and my music’s maturing, so I wanted to do something different. I’ve got a lot of great collaborators working with me, and we’re thinking outside the box.”
The song basically describes what Bieber would do for you if he were your boyfriend. The lyrics, which were written by Bieber, Mike Posner, Mat Musto and Mason Levy, can be a little cheesy, but I don’t think any fan of Justin’s will really care.
“If I was your boyfriend, I’d never let you go /I can take you places you ain’t never been before / Baby take a chance or you’ll never ever know / I got money in my hands that I’d really like to blow.
“If I was your boyfriend, never let you go / Keep you on my arm girl, you’d never be alone / I can be a gentleman, anything you want / If I was your boyfriend, I’d never let you go.”

MTV reports that “Boyfriend” is currently available on iTunes while Bieber’s new album “Believe” will be released later this year. Scooter Braun, Bieber’s manager, said that the video for “Boyfriend” is currently in the works.
