Slade Smiley On His Reality Future, Gretchen Rossi Wedding
Will Slade Smiley and Gretchen Rossi soon return to television? With both a baby and wedding plans in their future, the former Real Housewives of Orange County couple certainly appears to be in a place of excitement. However, when it comes to a reality return, Slade Smiley doesn’t sound so sure.
During a May 20 interview with Real Mr. Housewife, Slade Smiley spoke of his reality career, as well as his future with television.
After leaving The Real Housewives of Orange County years ago, Slade Smiley and Gretchen Rossi starred on WEtv’s Marriage Bootcamp, which followed them and a few other celebrity couples as they attempted to improve their relationship through therapy and physical activities. Since then, Slade Smiley has steered clear of reality television.
“It would definitely have to be the right opportunity,” he said of a possible return.
“Reality is not the focus. We do have an opportunity to do something that is truly more documentary. We have people that are interested in following our journey to have kids. Really it’s more of a documentary style versus a reality style. That’s being discussed. That’s really what our main focus is, as we want to have kids.”
In the past, Slade Smiley and Gretchen Rossi have battled over what they would do first; get married or have children. And apparently, Rossi’s desires won over.
In regard to future wedding bells, Smiley explained, “It’s not our focus at this point because we have so many other things going on.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Slade Smiley and Rossi were initially set to wed this month on May 23. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live last year, Rossi announced the wedding date to host Andy Cohen, but now, it appears the couple’s plans have changed.
After announcing the date, Slade Smiley claimed Bravo requested he and Rossi share their big day with fans.
“The network asked us to get married on TV. The network was offering us a diamond ring and offering us to do that and we said no because they had a specific storyline they wanted to tell. We said unless we can be honest about our relationship and tell the true story, we’re not gonna do it… it wasn’t the right thing for us.”
Slade Smiley did not reveal whether or not he and Rossi had rescheduled or canceled their previously set wedding date of May 23.
