Royal Wedding: Sofia Hellqvist Compared To Kate Middleton, Prepares To Marry Swedish Prince
Another royal wedding is in the works, as Sofia Hellqvist prepares to wed her longtime beau, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden. According to People Magazine, the couple formally announced their plans to marry in a traditional ceremony held over the weekend. The royal family gathered at Stockholm’s Royal Chapel on Sunday for the “reading of the banns of marriage.” Although the couple got engaged last fall, this ceremony is what actually makes their intent to marry official.
“Carl Philip, 36, who is third in line to the throne, is the last of his siblings to get married, and was known for his bachelor ways prior to meeting Hellqvist in 2009.”
The royal wedding of Sofia Hellqvist and Prince Carl Philip should be quite the event, with sources saying that it could “outshine” that of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there are already comparisons being drawn between Sofia and Kate. Aside from the obvious (both women are/were commoners), Sofia has luscious brunette hair, and great taste when it comes to fashion.
“There’s no word on whether or not Sofia’s fashion choices sell out in stores like Kate Middleton’s. The Duchess of Cambridge can barely step an L.K. Bennett-covered foot out the door before an item goes flying off the shelves,” reports the Inquisitr.
Even still, Sofia will definitely be talked about, and may very well become well-liked and popular like Duchess Kate.
According to Hello Magazine, Sofia will be given the title HRH Princess Sofia Duchess of Värmland after she marries her Prince. This news was announced as part of Sunday’s ceremony, which was attended by many royal family members.
“Carl Philip’s mother and father King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silviaof Sweden looked delighted as they arrived for the service.Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel were in attendance with their daughter Princess Estelle. Victoria, 37, wore an elegant ice blue dress and a matching flower-adorned hat and walked hand-in-hand with three-year-old Estelle.”
It is unclear if the Swedish royal wedding of Sofia Hellqvist and Prince Carl Philip will be televised around the world. If you remember back to the 2011 nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton, over 23 million Americans watched the ceremony. An estimated two billion people tuned in around the globe.
All eyes have been on Duke William and Duchess Kate ever since, as the two have welcomed two children into the world, and continue to be absolutely adored by people all over the world.
