Melissa Gorga Shows Amber Marchese Support As She Battles Breast Cancer
One person Amber Marchese has supporting her as she goes through her second battle with breast cancer is her The Real Housewives of New Jersey co-star Melissa Gorga. On Saturday morning, Melissa responded to Amber, thanking her for her support. Amber wrote that she loves Melissa and Melissa’s mom. Melissa told Amber that she loves her back.

In late April, Melissa asked everyone to send Amber good vibes and prayers. Melissa told Amber to stay strong.

In early May, Amber confirmed to People that her breast cancer has returned. She talked about the moment when her doctor told her that the cancer has recurred in the same breast.
“I was just sick to my stomach. I can’t even begin to describe the feeling you get when someone says you have cancer. Then to get it again after you thought you fought it and thought it was behind you ….I was thinking, ‘This is definitely it. I’m going to die.'”
Amber, who had a double mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, told People that she hopes that her story doesn’t deter others with breast cancer from getting a mastectomy.
“You have a double mastectomy and chemotherapy to stack all the odds in your favor so that there is no recurrence. The percentage of it recurring is very small, less than 5 percent. I just fell into that category. I wasn’t so lucky…This is not common. I want people to understand that. My case is not the average case.”
Amber now faces more surgery to remove the remaining breast tissue, radiation, and taking various cancer-fighting drugs.
Melissa and Amber were actually friends prior to Melissa joining The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Amber and Melissa partied with one another during their 20s but then lost touch for a few years. In an interview with TBB Reality in December 2014, Amber said that Melissa, upon learning that she was joining the show for the sixth season, sent her a congratulatory tweet. Amber added that Melissa unfortunately didn’t treat her like she was a friend as they filmed the season.
“She texted me and said, ‘Congrats and welcome to the show!’ I thought she was really happy, but as time went on I felt like she didn’t stand by my side in the way a good friend should have.”
Viewers saw Melissa and Amber frequently at odds with one another during the sixth season. In one scene, Melissa told co-star Nicole Napolitano that Amber had described her as a homewrecker. As the episode aired, in July 2014, Amber lashed out at Melissa for betraying her and damaging her relationship with Nicole. Amber even dragged Melissa’s sister-in-law, Teresa Giudice, into the feud.

Judging by the tweets that Melissa Gorga and Amber Marchese have exchanged, they’re over the feud that they had with one another during the filming and airing of season 6 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. It remains to be seen whether the two will get the chance to film together again for the seventh season. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Amber recently admitted that she’s not sure if she’ll be asked back to do another season.
