Jessica Biel Set to Play Vera Miles in Upcoming ‘Psycho’ Movie
Jessica Biel is the latest Hollywood actress to join the cast of the upcoming Sacha Gervasi film, ‘Alfred Hitchock and the Making of Psycho‘.
Acccording to a report by Deadline, Biel will take on the role of Vera Miles, who played Lila Crane in the 1960 classic thriller. The actress will be joined by Anthony Hopkins playing Hitchcock, Scarlett Johansson playing Janet Leigh, James D’Arcy playing Anthony Perkins, and Helen Mirren as Alma Reville, Hitchock’s wife.
In the movie, Gervasi tells the story of the hardships Hitchcock faced in financing the original 1960s thriller, ‘Psycho‘. Celebrity Cafe reports:
“Studios were reluctant to finance Psycho, which led to Hitchcock seeking financing himself. The movie would go on to become, arguably, the director’s most famous and influential work. It scored Oscar nominations for both Hitchcock and Leigh.”
Biel, who is engaged to Justin Timberlake, reportedly beat out several other young starlets for the role of Vera Miles in the upcoming film. Alfred Hitchock and the Making of Psycho is still without a release date, but filming is reportedly scheduled to begin sometime towards the latter half of the year.
Biel’s next big screen appearance will be in the Total Recall remake opposite Colin Farrell.
