Sandra Bullock’s stalker has pleaded not guilty to 26 charges.
Among other charges, Joshua James Corbett, 39, is accused of stalking, burglary, and possession of a machine gun, according to BBC News .
Last year, in June of 2014, Corbett allegedly broke into Bullock’s Beverly Hills home. Bullock was home at the time of the break-in and was able to lock herself in her bedroom closet. She then called 911 and waited for the police to arrive. When Corbett was arrested, he was carrying photos of the Gravity star and a notebook with a letter addressed to her. In the letter, released to the media last month, Corbett referred to Bullock as his “girl” and him as her “husband.”
“You are very special to me and without you in my life there is only misery,” the letter reads.

While he was not carrying any firearms on him at the time, the authorities later found a “cache of illegal weapons, including machine guns and an assault weapon,” according to Page Six .
Corbett entered his “not guilty” plea on Wednesday, May 6 in a Los Angeles courtroom. It was his first court appearance after a judge determined in April that he should stand trial in the case.
Corbett’s attorney, Steve Sitkoff, said that his client really “thought he was married” to Bullock, adding that “it was a delusion, but he doesn’t think that anymore.”
Sitkoff explained that Corbett was not a criminal, but rather a mentally disturbed man that needs help, but not the kind of help that he could get in prison.
“He’s mentally disturbed. He’s getting some help in jail, but he’s not getting the kind of help he can get,” Sitkoff said following the arraignment on Wednesday. “[Corbett] never intended to hurt Miss Bullock and we’re going to show that.”
Corbett is currently being held on bail and could face 20 years in prison if he is convicted on all charges.
