New Secret Angels Added To Victoria’s Secret Lineup
New Secret Angels were added to the official Victoria’s Secret lineup to make up for the absence of Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Klos, whose contracts end this year and are not planned for renewal. However, Victoria’s Secret are doing much more than simply replacing their models: they are seeking to expand, simultaneously giving the angel status to ten of their current models. The new Secret Angels are Jasmine Tookes, Martha Hunt, Taylor Marie Hill (USA), Jac Jagaciak (Poland), Elsa Hosk (Sweden), Lais Ribeiro (Brazil), Romee Strijd (Netherlands), Sara Sampaio (Portugal), Stella Maxwell (Ireland) and Kate Grigorieva (Russia). All of them are going to take part in Victoria Secret’s famed catwalk show which is most likely to be held in November.
According to IBTimes, the company is happy to proclaim that right now they have the largest collection of contract models in their history, and accompanies the press release with a 15-second clip providing basic information about their new employees and their backgrounds.
“Elsa was a professional basketball player before branching off to modelling. Martha is from North Carolina and likes to cook while indulging in activities like surfing and dancing. Jac, who belongs to an athletic family, was trained in track and field since childhood. Stella, who was discovered by a New Zealand agent, loves racket sports, hiking and travel.”
It seems that Victoria’s Secret is optimistic about what the future holds for them, and expansion of their Angel lineup is just one of the signs. According to the Inquisitr, the largest American lingerie retailer isn’t satisfied with keeping to their own part of the fashion world, and is willing to change the way they do business to be more like Zara, and eventually make inroads into the area of fast fashion.
“Victoria’s Secret has been inspired to go this route due to the intense competition stirred up by various brands that have the ‘fast-fashion’ process down to a fine science. Zara is top of the pyramid of fast-fashion success stories, and Victoria’s Secret has taken note.”
Some of the Victoria’s Secret fans, however, are rather skeptical about the idea. After all, the company has built a very particular image of itself, an image familiar to those who like it. If it tries to expand into new areas of fashion, this image may get diluted – which is never a good thing for a business.
Anyway, this is far off ahead, while the new Secret angels are something all Victoria’s Secret fans are going to look forward to seeing during their show in November.
