Erica Alonso: Body Found In Forest Of San Diego, Woman Missing Since February Confirmed Dead
A California woman missing since February is confirmed dead. Erica Alonso’s body was found in the forest of San Diego’s Cleveland National Forest late Monday night.
National Monitor reports that the 27-year-old was located in a remote section of the forest when biologists discovered her decomposed corpse. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says an autopsy will be conducted to learn her cause of death.
Alonso was last seen on February 15, as Inquisitr previously reported. She was last seen with her boyfriend when they went out for Valentine’s Day. The pair met another couple at a Costa Mesa lounge and left there around 1:30 a.m. All four of them went to Alonso’s boyfriend’s house. Apparently, the two had an argument and Alonso left his house about 3:45 a.m. A large search was crowdfunded days later when she was reported missing.
Erica Alonso’s car was found on March 25 in Aliso Viejo — about a mile away from her Laguna Hills home. On April 28, biologists were walking through a forest east of San Diego and stumbled upon Alonso’s body near the Ortega Highway.
Isaac Alonso — Erica’s father — believes someone killed his daughter and “wants them to pay” for what they did.
Investigators are awaiting dental records and fingerprints to match them up with the body, but preliminary findings show that it belongs to Erica Alonso.
According to KTLA 5 News, the Alonso family thanked everyone who helped in the search and for their support.
“On behalf of the family, we want to thank everybody who has helped us look for Erica,” Isaac Alonso said.
Her father has a lot of faith in the investigators because he believes now that she’s found, they’ll be able to track down who killed his daughter. He shared that nothing will ever replace seeing his daughter’s smiling face and feeling her arms wrap around him again.
“When she arrived home, she would have that beautiful smile on her and say, ‘Hey dad, how are you doing?'”
So far, no preliminary speculations have been revealed on how Erica may have died. An autopsy will reveal on how the missing woman found dead was killed. Her body was deep in the forest and has all the signs of foul play, as her father believes. Isaac Alonso never thought the end would end up like this, and the family is devastated. They offered a $5,000 reward for finding missing Erica Alonso and were actively involved in the search.
