Back in March, Jamie Foxx sparked a firestorm of controversy when he made what some were calling a “transphobic” joke about Bruce Jenner.
Now, Jamie Foxx is defending his joke, and saying that it wasn’t a personal attack.
Back in March, Foxx made a joke at the former Olympian winner’s expense at the iHeart Radio Awards. During his monologue, Jamie said, “We have some groundbreaking performances here, too, tonight. We got Bruce Jenner, who will be here doing some musical performances. He’s doing a his-and-her duet all by himself.”

Foxx went on Hot 97 and of course, discussion turned to the biggest joke of the night. Foxx made his point by saying that he gave TV personality B. Scott, who is openly transgender, a radio show called The Foxxhole. “I was like first of all, I think they made a name up, transphobia — I didn’t even know what that was.”
“Let’s do this for the transgender world. Let’s talk about The Foxxhole radio. Years back, when we first started ‘The Foxxhole’ radio I said ‘I need my show to beat everybody and everything’. I don’t want [my show] to be like everyone else.”

Foxx goes on to say how he found B. Scott and gave the TV personality a DJ gig on The Foxxhole .
“So, I’m looking on the Internet and I see this transgender — I thought he was a girl at first. I’m like, ‘Who is that? — oh hey wait a minute!’ And he was this dude named B. Scott. And the dude’s show was SO dope, that I said ‘Yo, man get in touch with that dude. He needs to be a DJ on ‘The Foxxhole’.”
“So when they were attacking — if you can’t be joked about, then you’re not allowed to laugh about anyone else that’s being joked about.”
He continued to explain why people shouldn’t take everything so seriously.
“You can’t take my comedic license. If I do go over I know when it’s an apology. After we did the bruce Jenner joke the next night on The Roast, there were a million Bruce Jenner jokes, because it was just topical. We don’t mean anything against Bruce Jenner. I didn’t want to fall for the bait. It ain’t the serious.”
