Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2016: Beautiful Looks & Feminine Details From The Shows
Bridal Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday, April 16. That means future brides, celebrities, fashion designers, and editors flocked to New York City to see the latest wedding dresses from designers like Carolina Herrera, Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar De La Renta, and of course, Vera Wang.
Angel Sanchez featured 3D-flowers and butterflies in his runway show. He revealed to E! News contributor Keija Minor how he created his unique floral embellishments. He used over 100 flowers that were made from plastic straws and were individually cut and peeled into petals. Sanchez then embellished the flowers with a single crystal, according to the report. Other big looks from his Bridal Fashion Week show included low-cut gowns, white tuxedo suits, and lace gowns embellished given a twist with appliquéd flowers.
Carolina Herrera featured her favorite flower, the white jasmine, for the first time at Bridal Fashion Week. She sent down a series of wedding gowns that included floral print lace and feathers with the flowers. As for Monique Lhuillier, she knows how to make a wedding gown. She sent down gowns with sheer details and a nude underlay to give the suggestion of skin while prevent any wardrobe malfunctions. The wedding gowns were sexy, yet very much ladylike.
Angel Sanchez wasn’t the only one who used 3D-flowers in his Spring 2016 show. The trend continued at Marchesa’s presentation at the St. Regis, according to another E! News report. The designer used intricate details such as pearls, crystals, and floral threadwork to give his collection a regal twist.
Peter Copping, the new creative director of Oscar de la Renta, debuted his first bridal collection at Fashion Week. He unveiled one of the prettiest and flirtiest collections of the Spring 2016 season, according to E! News. He featured gowns with pastel flowers and designs with above-the-knee shorts. His collection was cohesive even though it would fit every type of bride. Copping definitely didn’t play it safe at Bridal Fashion Week. The news site noted that the Oscar de la Renta show was the perfect way to end the day off on Friday.
Glamour magazine was also there to check out the trends at Bridal Fashion Week. Contributor Kim Fusaro noted that embellished details like 3D-flowers, pearls, butterflies, and feathers. There were also some surprising new trends like bridal jumpsuits, illusion bodices, floral print bridesmaid dresses, and glittery foldable flats to wear on the dance floor.
Bridal Fashion Week isn’t over yet. The wedding gowns will continue to rule the runway until this coming Thursday. It’ll be interesting to see what the next crop of designers will bring to Fashion Week. What are your favorite trends? What would you like to wear to your future wedding?
