LifeLock Decides to Stick By Rush Limbaugh
Pro Flowers, Quicken Loans, Sleep Train, Sleep Number, Citrix Systems Inc., Carbonite, Legal Zoom, Tax Resolution Services and AOL have all decided to jump ship after Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” last week, but LifeLock has decided to stick by the controversial talk show host.
LifeLock said today that it will not be pulling its sponsorship from Limbaugh’s program. LifeLock Chief Marketing Office Marvin Davis wrote in an email to the Huffington Post:
“We do not agree with Rush Limbaugh’s recent comments but we acknowledge his apology. At this time, we are not making any changes to our advertising program.”
LifeLock is one of the few organizations that felt that Rush Limbaugh’s apology was sufficient. Presidential candidate Ron Paul said that Limbaugh was only apologizing to stop the mass exodus of his sponsors and Sandra Fluke said that Limbaugh’s apology doesn’t change anything. Fluke said:
“I don’t think that a statement like this issued, saying that his choice of words was not the best, changes anything, and especially when that statement is issued when he’s under significant pressure from his sponsors who have begun to pull their support.”
The Huffington Post reports that LifeLock isn’t the only sponsor sticking by Rush. American Forces Radio, Hillsdale College and Lear Capital are also staying on board.
Are you surprised that LifeLock is sticking by Rush Limbaugh? Do you think Limbaugh’s apology was acceptable?
