Sarah Stage gave birth to a large baby, weighing 8-pounds 7-ounces, on Tuesday afternoon. Stage, a 30-year-old model, has been criticized for her incredibly thin appearance in the last trimester of her pregnancy. Many accused her of purposely endangering her unborn child by not eating enough and worrying more about her looks than the baby’s health. As it turns out, TMZ reports that the baby is way bigger than anyone expected. Stage’s baby boy — James Hunter — is also 22-inches long, which is a normal size for a newborn.
It was just two days ago that Stage was getting a lot of heat for her unusually fit body for a 9-months pregnant woman. She could still wear super skinny jeans and her baby bump looked more like a tummy that bulged a bit from having a plentiful lunch.
TMZ goes on to report that Stage’s pregnancy was really easy for her. She was seen eating dinner Monday night with friend, Melissa Molinaro, and hardly looked like she was expecting.
Prior to Sarah Stage giving birth, she posted selfies throughout her pregnancy on Instagram. Instead of praise, the model faced fierce backlash. Commenters told her she’s not going to have a healthy baby having a body like that, and that she must be doing something to keep from showing a lot more than she was. It now seems that Stage is just one of those rare women who can get away with not looking pregnant and still be healthy at the same time.
Stage told to Entertainment Tonight that her doctor said she was doing “fine.”
“The doctor said my baby is healthy. All my girlfriends that are pregnant now, their bellies are a lot bigger, so I asked him and she started laughing. He was like, ‘You’re fine.’”
The report posted an image of Jill Duggar from 19 Kids and Counting to draw comparisons between how she looked during the final weeks of pregnancy versus Stage’s. Duggar is extremely thin as well, but was definitely showing before she gave birth. So, it really has a lot to do with how women carry their pregnancy.
Sarah Stage said before she found out she was pregnant, she was working out harder than normal. She told ET that she wasn’t dieting and still LOVED her In-N-Out Burgers while pregnant. The model said she gained 20 pounds over the 9-month period.
Now that Stage has given birth to a healthy boy, will her critics ease up?
