Tatum O’Neal Rumors Are False, Actress Isn’t in Rehab for Cocaine

Tatum O’Neal rumors placed the Oscar winner back in rehab to deal with her addiction to cocaine but a representative for the actress says that the rumors are false. Tatum, who has battled with substance abuse for years, is reportedly taking prescription bills to deal with a back issue and has voluntarily checked into a facility to prevent a relapse.

O’Neal’s rep said:

“Tatum O’Neal has had back issues, had back surgery and went to a place that could supervise her use of prescribed pain killers until the pain had subsided. She will always seek supervision when taking prescription medication that has addictive potential.”

The rumors about O’Neal stated that the actress had checked into rehab after she started using cocaine again last month. A source told Radar Online:

“Tatum made the decision to voluntarily check into rehab after having a relapse about a month ago when she began using cocaine again… Tatum is doing really, really bad at the facility she is at… Tatum is essentially in denial about how bad her addiction is. (She) is refusing to embrace the 12 step AA model to get sober.”

The New York Daily News reports that O’Neal was arrested in 2008 for purchasing cocaine. She plead guilty and agreed to complete a drug treatment program.
