‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ First Reactions: Does Marvel Have Another Winner?
It may not feel like it, but it’s already been a good three years or so since Marvel made history with the first Avengers film. With The Avengers, they marked the first time a studio was able to successfully pull off a superhero team-up movie in a live action shared universe. Since that point, the blockbuster world has changed dramatically, and we’re starting to see film shift to long-form storytelling.
It’s 2015, and in a few short weeks, Avengers: Age of Ultron, the long-awaited sequel to the highly successful and game-changing Avengers, will be hitting theaters. Given all that the first film accomplished, Avengers: Age of Ultron has a lot of expectations to live up to, both financially and critically. Last night, critics got their first look at the movie and were able to tweet out their reactions to the movie.
So does Avengers: Age of Ultron live up to the hype set by its predecessor? Let’s take a look at some the initial reactions from critics.

While #Avengers felt like a bookend to Phase 1, #AgeofUltron definitely feels like a conduit of things to come. That being said, it rocks.

AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON is loaded with insane action, great character moments, and funny dialogue. Joss did the impossible again.

Important to note AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON is a completely different movie than the first one. And that’s why it works.

.@Avengers #AgeOfUltron might be the most true to the comic movie ever. So many images taken right off the page that made me faint with joy.

Not half bad for a sequel to one of the most successful films in history. It’s hard to shake the fact that Age of Ultron had a lot of baggage going in, so the fact that the reviewers were able to enjoy it as much as they did is fantastic.
But will audiences respond as positively to Avengers: Age of Ultron? We’ll have to wait until May 1st to find out!
